As an ending of the 2008 MLS Season, the San Jose Earthquakes were named the recipients of the 2008 Wooden Spoon Award. The San Jose Earthquakes and LA Galaxy finished the 2008 season tied for 13th place with the record of 8-13-9 and 33 points each. The Earthquakes were labeled the winners of the Wooden Spoon through a head-to-head tiebreaker.

The Wooden Spoon Award is an unofficial annual award given to the Major League Soccer (MLS) team with the worst regular season record, as determined by the MLS. It originates from the Australian Football League Wooden Spoon. read more
