Marta Vieira da Silva, of Brazil, has been named FIFA’s 2009 Female World Player of the Year for the forth year in a row. Marta has become the only player (male or female) to win it four times in a row. She was also the youngest female to win, when she won in 2006 at age 20.

The FIFA Player of the Year award is voted for by the coaches and captains of each national side. Marta was presented with the trophy at the awards gala in Zurich along with Lionel Messi, the 2009 Male World Player of the Year.
