The Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) League will be holding their first ever draft tomorrow, January 16th at the NSCAA Convention in St. Louis, starting at 11am EST.
The Boston Breakers have the #1 overall pick in the draft and plan to pick up some young college stars. The order for the 10-round draft was determined via lottery and will follow the same pattern as the WPS General Draft in October with teams selecting in the following order, 1-7, 7-1, 1-7, 7-1 until the draft is completed.
This will be the league’s annual draft, and is for players who participated in either the WPS West Coast Combine or the WPS East Coast Combine, which will also include any players who have just completed their NCAA eligibility, as well as any other players who have applied to be drafted.
You can tune into The Fox Soccer Channel (FSC) starting tonight at 8pm EST. FSC will be having live interviews from the NSCAA Convention in St. Louis, will show the unveiling of the official WPS match ball, and will have other news and interviews about the draft.
The WPS will be offering live coverage of the Draft on starting at 10:30am EST tomorrow, Friday, January 16th on http://fancorner.womensprosoccer.com. More information can be found on the Women’s Professional Soccer website.
