A series of European friendly games will be taking place in the United States this summer. The World Football Challenge will be a round-robin tournament that will be bringing clubs such as Chelsea, AC Milan, Inter Milan and Club America to a six game series starting on July 19th.
The games will be held in five states and all televised on the ESPN networks. Those states are: California, Texas, Massachusetts, Maryland and Georgia.
Here is the schedule:
- Sunday, July 19th – Club America vs. Inter Milan at Stanford Stadium in Palo Alto, California, 7pm EST, ESPN2
- Tuesday, July 21st – Chelsea FC vs. Inter Milan at Rose Bowl, Pasadena, California, 11pm EST, ESPN2
- Wednesday, July 22nd – AC Milan vs. Club America at Georgia Dome, Atlanta, 7pm EST, ESPN2
- Friday, July 24th – AC Milan vs. Chelsea at M&T Bank Stadium, Baltimore, 8pm, ESPN
- Sunday, July 26th – AC Milan vs. Inter Milan at Gillette Stadium, Foxboro, Massachusetts, 5pm, ESPN2
- Sunday, July 26th – Chelsea FC vs. Club America at Cowboy Stadium, Arlington, Texas, 7pm EST ESPN2
Tickets can be bought from the World Football Challenge website.
Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA is the only MLS stadium to be hosting one of these games. Hopefully by having games in other areas will help the spread of professional soccer in the U.S.
