2011 MLS Expansion: Portland Timbers

The Portland Timbers has been awarded a spot for 2011 in the Major League Soccer (MLS) as the 18th club. Portland will become the third Pacific Northwest city in the MLS, joining Seattle and Vancouver.

Portland, which is in the first division of the United Soccer League (USL) will have their current home, the PGE Park,  renovated to turn it into a world-class soccer facility.  Upgrades include state-of-the-art amenities, including permanent seats and concessions on the east side of the park, widened concourses, improved player facilities and a restaurant with a view of the field.

Current 2009 and 2010 Timbers season ticket holders will have top priority for the 2011 MLS season seat selection. 2009 and 2010 half season and flex plan ticket holders will have secondary priority status with a $20 deposit per seat. And for anyone else not purchasing 2009 and 2010 tickets, they can place a deposit of $50 per seat for tertiary priority status, behind the current season ticket holders.
