The WPS kicks off its second season this weekend with the Washington Freedom hosting the Boston Breakers on Saturday. Sunday, Saint Louis Athletica will be hosting the FC Gold Pride, the two expansion teams Philadelphia Independence and Atlanta Beat will make their debut and the Sky Blue FC and Chicago Red Stars game will be broadcasted live on FSC. American R&B singer/songwriter/producer Akon has been hired as the musical director of the 2010 World Cup. Akon, who is of Senegalese origin, was chosen to produce the official World Cup 2010 anthem and oversee all the official music. 2010 MLS Schedule

The Major League Soccer (MLS) has released the entire 2010 regular season schedule. The season opener, on Thursday, March 25th will be the first ever MLS game for the Philadelphia Union, the League’s 16th team, against Seattle Sounders which will begin its second season. Marta Vieira da Silva, of Brazil, has been named FIFA’s 2009 Female World Player of the Year for the forth year in a row. Marta has become the only player (male or female) to win it four times in a row. She was also the youngest female to win, when she won in 2006 at age 20. Continue reading
