QUICK FACT: Soccer and the Olympics

Did you know that the Olympic committee allowed soccer as a competitive sport for the first time during the London Games of 1908? The countries of England, France, Denmark, Holland, and Sweden competed with England beating Denmark 2-0 in the final.

2010 World Cup: USA vs England Review

USA probably didn’t plan to be one goal down within 5 minutes of the first half. Steven Gerrard found himself unmarked and found the back of the net giving England a quick lead in the game. I think USA woke up after that in terms of defense. However, offensively there was not much being generated. Thankfully, England’s goalkeeper, Robert Green, helped change that. Continue reading

I came across the following quote from a book I’ve been reading recently: “It takes more talent to score than to stop other people from scoring”. In terms of money, forwards do tend to make more money than defenders. But is it true that those who do the scoring are more talented than those who try and stop the scoring? What are your thoughts?
