The Major League Soccer (MLS) has announced their hopeful plans to expand to 20 teams by 2012, although it is not definate. So far with the 2009 expansion of the Seattle Sounders, there are 15 teams in the MLS. The 16th team will be the new Philadelphia team in 2010 and then Vancouver and Portland in 2011.
By 2011 the MLS would have expanded to seven new markets in a six year span. Real Salt Lake and Chivas USA joined in 2005, Houston Dynamo started in 2006, then Toronto FC in 2007, and the San Jose Earthquakes returned in 2008. With the early success in Seattle, and the promising expansion teams in Vancouver and Portland, if all goes well, the MLS may expand even more in 2012. The league also wants to make sure that the new teams are geographically located to help with the success of the MLS.

2012 Atlanta and Ottawa
Miami would just use the MLS as a “Farm Team” for the next stars in Barca
St. Louis dosen’t have the ownership.
Ottawa vs. Toronto FC would be just as big as the Senators vs. the maple leafs.

Montreal Impact in for 2012. Brett, really, Ottawa vs. Toronto FC is a good game, but not as big as Sens vs. Leafs. C’mon.
