Soccer Tricks: The Step Over

The Step Over is a classic move used to fool an opponent into thinking you’re making a pass when in fact you don’t! In this article, which includes a video example, we’ll be discussing the Inside Step Over, the Outside Step Over (also called the Scissors), the Double Step Over, and end with a variation of the Inside Step Over that includes a deceiving ball movement!

Inside Step Over

Step 1

Approach the ball making it look like you’re going to make a pass with the inside of your foot.

Step 2

Instead of actually making contact with the ball, your foot should move around the ball.

Step 3

Using the outside of the foot you used to move around the ball, dribble in the opposite direction.
