Voodoo dolls created to beat US National Team?
February 10, 2009 | Halftime Report | Add a comment
It all started with a Mexican newspaper encouraging fans to cast a hex on the United States National Team before the World Cup Qualifier between the US and Mexico tomorrow. Fans could trade in coupons for a voodoo doll representing a US National Team player.

Now I can understand this happening in Mexico, but guess what? A United States based Blockbuster is actually distributing these dolls. Wow, talk about national pride. At least Radio Shack, who was signed on as a sponsor, backed out after they found out the details.
“Hold a needle firmly between your thumb and index finger and prick slowly the part of the doll where you want to affect the opponent,” is what the instructions say on the doll. The back of the doll’s jersey says, “Gringos.”
Mexico hasn’t won on U.S. soil since 1999. Apparently, the country doesn’t have much confidence in their national team when they have to resort to voodoo rituals.
To the fans in the United States, show your pride and wear red during tomorrow’s game, send an email to Blockbuster telling them how much you hate them, and switch over to Netflix. Boycott Blockbuster!
