Kristina Cardoso

I have known Krissy’s family for many years and watched her father play soccer. I was her father’s assistant coach with club soccer for a season. Krissy has always had a passion for the game and has grown as a player over the years. She is very versatile being able to play at various positions on the field. I had the pleasure of interviewing Krissy through email recently.

When and why did you start playing soccer?
I first started playing soccer when I was 4 years old.  I grew up watching my father play every Sunday and I can remember always wanting to be just like him.

What position(s) do you play?
I grew up and have always played outside back.  After my freshman year of college my coach moved me from outside back to outside mid and occasionally forward.

What teams have you played for?
I have played for Warriors S.C. ,  Lady Cape Cod Crusaders, Massachusetts ODP,  Southern New Hampshire University

Do you have any pre-game rituals?
The one pregame ritual I have is to drink a Red Bull before every game.

Who is your favorite professional soccer player?
One of my favorite players is Messi.  He is the hardest worker and never quits on a ball.

Who is your favorite professional soccer team?
My favorite professional team is Benfica

What advice would you give to youth players looking to become better soccer players?
To always work hard for what you want.  Get in the back yard and juggle the ball every day.  The more comfortable you become juggling the ball the better your game will get in every aspect.

Do you play any other sports besides soccer?
I do not play any other sport.

Thanks Krissy for taking the time to interview with Sideline Soccer. We wish you much success both on and off the field!
